What is happening for this Term???

• Our school wide concept is- 'Pride in Our Place'- New Zealand Rocks!


• We will be:


• -looking closely at what it means to be a Kiwi/ New Zealander in 2011.


• -exploring the many cultures that now make up New Zealand and our school community.


• -taking time to look at the countries represented by our families and their important traditions, history and festivals.


• -looking back through NZ history and important happenings that have shaped our country eg- treaty of Waitangi


• Our Writing Focus will be- Personal Recounts/ Picture Plans/ Cameo Writing/ Recrafting/ Publishing and a particular focus on Transactional Writing: Explanation- The Life Cycle of Butterfly.


• Our mathematics programme will be- Statistics-Investigation (2 weeks)--> Assessment (3 weeks) Number knowledge- assessment, routines, grouping addition basic facts (5 weeks)

• SPECIAL EVENTS:


• -Day ONE- Tuesday 1st February


• -Meet the Teacher Evening- Tuesday 15th February (week 3)


• -Grasshopper Tennis- Year 1 (Weeks 4- 7)


• -Ripper Rugby- Year 1- Tuesday 8th & Thursday 10th March (Week 6)


• -Ripper Rugby- Year 2- Tuesday 15th & Thursday 17th March (Week 7)


• -Travelwise Week- Monday 21st- Friday 25th March (Week 8)


• -Food Festival- Saturday 2nd April 11:30am- 2:30pm


• -Art Gallery Trip- Year 2 classes Monday 4th and Tuesday 5th April (Week 10)


• -Last Day of Term- Friday 15th April (Week 11)
